Pang Jiun

About the Artist

Pang Jiun was born into an artistic family in Shanghai. His father was the director of an art academy who had studied in Paris, and his mother was an oil painter who had studied in Tokyo. At the age of eleven, he held a joint exhibition with his sister. At thirteen, he was admitted to the Hangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, later transferring to the Central Academy of Fine Arts, where he graduated with excellent results at the age of eighteen. Pang Jiun blends Eastern and Western art philosophies in his work. His paintings showcase the passionate expressions of Western Impressionism and Fauvism, while also embodying the poetic sentiments of Eastern literati painting, successfully establishing an Eastern oil painting expressionist style.

Since 1987, Pang Jiun has settled in Taiwan and has taught at the National Taiwan University of Arts for over twenty years, mentoring numerous students. He has made significant contributions to the Chinese art world and holds a prominent position. In 1994, he was included in the "Who's Who in Contemporary Chinese Art," and the following year was listed in the "Cambridge Who's Who" in the UK. His works are widely collected by museums and private collections both domestically and internationally.
