Lin Chin-Hsien, born in 1968 in Yilan, Taiwan, holds a Doctorate in Fine Arts from the Graduate Institute of Fine Arts at National Taiwan Normal University. He is currently a full-time professor in the Department of Fine Arts at National Taichung University of Education. Lin Chin-Hsien is a prominent contemporary portrait artist. Lin Chin-Hsien is known for his "allegorical classical realism" in his art. He combines the color theory of Impressionism with the spiritual direction of classicism, making the landscapes of his homeland the central theme of his work. He focuses on depicting the local people and things. Liao Ren-Yi, a full-time professor at the Taipei National University of the Arts, praised Lin as a painter with cultural insight and deep reflection. His works express rich ideas and meanings. Art critics also note that Lin Chin-Hsien favors using classical realist techniques to create illusionary images where reality and dreams intertwine, exploring contemporary cultural phenomena.
