Ng Po-Wan
About the Artist
Ng Po-Wan was born in Taishan, Guangdong. His father was a Chinese expatriate in the Philippines. In the 1920s, he studied fine arts at the University of the Philippines. In 1936, he returned to Hong Kong and officially began his art career. In 1946, he taught at Ying Wa College in Hong Kong. His early works, created while living in Hong Kong, are filled with the vibrant atmosphere and unique character of the city.
In the early 1980s, invited by the Ministry of Culture of China and the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Ng became a guest professor and traveled across China's famous mountains and rivers, capturing the beauty of the landscape in his works. He later settled in Canada, where he focused on expressing multiculturalism. Across the vast Canadian land, from west to east, he depicted the scenic beauty of lakes, mountains, the four seasons, and diverse cultural landscapes.
In the 1990s, he held a retrospective exhibition in Taiwan, which received high praise for its depth and artistic value.
